Homelessness In Downtown Miami

There are so many issues in our society today, mainly because we have accepted so many things that are against our religion or beliefs, but since this is a “free country” many of us feel that is acceptable what is currently happening in our local area. Some every-day issues are as follow:
1. Texting while driving for instance; although is banned in Florida; everybody is doing it including police officers while driving,

2. Another issue would be the homeless; Miami-Dade County was awarded $32 million in grants for housing and social programs. Yet, in Downtown Miami they are all over the place. A few years back, I didn’t see any homeless in Hialeah. Recently, I have come across at least twenty homeless in the west part of Hialeah.

    The biggest problem in Portland, Oregon is homelessness and in order to solve this problem Portland officials are providing homeless families with “tiny houses” to decrease the homelessness in Portland. I feel this is the most effective solution because for the first five years the homeless families are allowed to live in the tiny houses for free to help allow them get back up on their feet. Five years should be able to give them enough time to get back up on their feet and if that is not enough time the homeowners who have these “tiny houses” can charge rent to the families to stay a bit longer if they need which is a win-win situation for both the homeowners and families which is why I see this as an effective solution.
