There are about 564,708 people that are experiencing homelessness in America. There are 655,155 people in Memphis of all those people 1,636 people that homeless according to the National Alliance to End Homeless. There also 10,532 people as of 2014 that are in Tennessee that are homeless according to Tennessee- National Coalition for the Homeless.
You can be employed and still be counted among the impoverished. Often people make too little to maintain any kind of lifestyle. Also there could be reasons to why you lose your job like if you were too sick to come in and you get fired because you are out to many days. If you are sick and you lose your job you lose the ability to pay for healthcare or anything that will help you to get better then you’re left being sick. If you left being sick you can’t go out and get another job because you aren’t cured from the sickness you had that from the previous job you had. Housing is the another big reason why people are still homeless. Housing is too expensive for people to afford who have minimum wage jobs. If you don’t have job then you can’t afford housing. Poverty isn’t the only problem relationship problems also is a huge part in homeless problem. One if the spouses get the house which leads to one of them leaving and not having a place to leave. But a lot of people don’t know that children make up the large portion of homeless people in the world. People are losing their jobs and that’s making it hard for them to pay their bills They are getting laid off and when you have no job that means no income. Another reason people lose their job is by when they are getting sick and having to miss work and get fired Many homeless people can’t a job because they don’t have a regular address. Also some jobs won’t consider unemployed applicants. Once you lose your job you don’t have an address to give to jobs. Without an address it’s hard to get a job. When it comes to why jobs would like for employees to have an address is because they would like for you to receive mail.
