Women may escape domestic violence and take their children with them. Domestic violence is one of the causes of family homelessness. Those coming from this are more likely to become homeless or have trouble finding a house. People with lower education may also be affected. It is difficult for the homeless to escape without a job; however, it is even harder to find and maintain a job without a good education. A low education is one of the barriers of employment.
According to CNN, the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday declared a state of emergency on homelessness. From the office of Mayor Eric Garcetti they called for $100 million to help address the growing crisis. This is showing progress in getting people off of the streets. Mayor de Blasio and Cardinal Dolan highlight their plan to add beds for the homeless in New York. They are planning to provide 150 beds to the homeless during the winter. According to a report released Monday by the National Coalition for the Homeless, 21 cities have passed measures aimed at restricting the people who feed the homeless since January 2013. Some people are against helping the homeless. Other cities are making it illegal to be homeless. In Santa Cruz, Calif., for example, sleeping in vehicles and camping, sitting or lying down in public is criminalized -- even though a local survey found that 83% of homeless people don't have access to housing or shelter.-Blake Ellis. Cities should realize that someone could become homeless in a blink of an eye and the reason they are sleeping in vehicles and lying in public places because they have nowhere else to go.
One solution is by building more shelters. Some people think that this would help the majority of homeless. “The right to shelter is a vital legal protection for homeless individuals, families and children.
