Homelessness Experiment

Homelessness Experiment I am not a good car-sleeper, so I knew this experiment was going to end bad from the beginning. I could be on an eight hour road trip and there would still be no possible way that I could fall asleep. I also can not do planes, but that is another story. Knowing how rough this night could be, Sydney and I did it together. She came over around nine and we started to get ready. We each layered up, with two sweatshirts and socks. We then grabbed a blanket and pillow each and filled up our water bottles. After using the bathroom a few times each, we put the seats down and packed in. We also put the windows down a little so we wouldn't suffocate - thanks for the advice, Dad. This does not seem too bad considering we each had a decent amount of space but maybe it was the plastic floor mat in my back that irritated me so much. Either way, we could not make it. We tossed and turned for hours and eventually at three a.m., we came inside. …show more content…
I was just super uncomfortable physically and with the idea of sleeping in a car. We had water and warm clothes so it was okay physically, besides the hard plastic underneath. The next day wasn't any better. I was exhausted all day and worked from four to ten after school. The next night I fell asleep the second I got into my bed. Im not sure what my life would be like if this was my reality. I don't know if I would get used to it or if I would still be as uncomfortable every day. I had it easier than anybody who really faces it because I had a warm bed right inside, whereas homeless people don't even have an “inside.” I was also sleeping in a protected environment and they are under bridges on concrete. This is a really hard reality to face even though it happens to hundreds of people every day and night in

They did this so there was no conflict with school, and the adults had in advanced taken the time off of work. Overview Everyone in America talks about the American dream; a big house with a great family and a white picket fence in the yard. For others, the American dream is to never have an empty stomach, it’s a place other than the cold and dirty concrete, it’s where people can shower more than once a week. The American dream isn’t what it’s all cracked up to be for some. There are people that go day after day barely surviving.…
