The Importance Of Understanding Homelessness

There are seven billion people in this vast world and 25 percent are homeless. Homelessness does not just occur overnight and in poor countries. It happened throughout even the richest countries in the world. If an individual states that they are homeless, there are a many different situations that the individual may be in. The government and people organizations need to offer more solutions to help the homeless population because an individual should not have to beg just to get by. First of all, to understand homelessness you have to understand the correct classifications. Homelessness is a being in an urban setting with no place of permanent residence. Many individuals experience being homeless because of different situations that they may be in. An individual may be live on the street, in a mission, an abandoned building or vehicle. Being homeless usually begins with a life altering event or events that were bewildering and the individual could not get on top of. If people don’t have enough money to feed their basic living the United States gives that individual money. That money is known as welfare. Most of the people on welfare are continually consuming drugs and alcohol, but most of the homeless people in the United States do not consume drugs and alcohol. Should the government help the homeless populations or should they keep doing what they are doing? Yes, the United States government has put in place some funding but it is not enough. The Canadian government has put in place a plan that will spend $119 million each year for five years.
