In Eleanor Bader’s article “Homeless on Campus”, the harsh truth about homeless college students is dissected and brought to light. With stories like single parents escaping abusive environments, being lost and virtually alone in a country that isn’t your own, and having to spend hours on public transportation to get to school; these individuals are determined to get their education with little-to-no help from the institutions themselves. Why are the homeless criminalized? Is it because they lack the necessary tools to function in society, therefore, making them a liability? Because poverty causes them to break the law? Or is it for other reasons? American Society has long cast homelessness as a social problem while attempting to escape the reality that those without homes function in society with those who have homes.…
This article primarily focuses on the struggles on homeless college students by giving ample examples of college students who have suffered from abuse or poverty stricken lifestyles. Bader talks about the struggles college students have faced struggles thus leading up to their homelessness coupled with the conflicts they endure while attending college. Some of the struggles these students went through before they became homeless have been similar across all the cases mentioned in this article, such as an abusive family, parents who stopped paying for the students rent, or those who simply can't afford the cost of living. The way these students attempt to deal with being homeless is sleeping at their friends house if available, couch surfing, or sleeping in the woods just to name a few. As doleful as this is, Bader believes if people paid more attention to the severities of the conditions these homeless students are in financially as well as physically then the situation for the students wouldn't be as substandard.…

In response to the decrease in the economy in our state, thousands of people have lost their home. They have moved to temporary camps. The government and police need to encourage the homeless population into searching for other states where the economy is better. Allowing the homeless to stay in this state in the current situation, it will cause violence, and it will cause health hazards not only to themselves, but also to the environment, and other beings. With the decreased economy, the homeless population would turn to violence in order to provide for their family.…
Additionally, the educators can institute studies to unearth the main reasons why the homeless welfare system is opting to keep the homeless individuals in an indecent lifestyle, yet they have sufficient resources to give them an alternative decent life. The educators can assess whether there is an intention to keep the class system in check within the society, so much so that the existing resources are being wasted, while denying the people an opportunity to join the rest of the society in living a decent life. The ideas presented by the book are also relevant to the educators, considering that it is an opportunity for them to chart the most appropriate way through which the homeless can improve their opportunities for living a decent life, outside of their dependence on the welfare system. Finally, the educators have an opportunity to investigate the relationship between American society attitudes towards the homeless…

Many young people in America want to achieve a higher education, but often are unable to because they lack the assistance and support needed. Oftentimes, homeless youth aren’t aware they qualify for a higher education as they access the government resources. Without this knowledge, obtaining a higher education must seem far out of reach. I believe a college student who is homeless upon entry or becomes homeless during college can graduate if they access the resources available to them.…
Education Homelessness makes it difficult to maintain school or further study and leaves people vulnerable to long-term unemployment. Unemployment in South Australia is at an all-time high, especially amongst homeless people. Evidence suggests that this is largely due to the amount of discrimination towards homeless people. Homeless individuals are often not given opportunities which only make it harder for them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. It is not surprising to discover that the main reason for homeless youths dropping out of school is due to the costs of education.…
Homeless College Students One night, I checked out my facebook and saw a new from Cal Poly Pomona about graduation class 2016. My mind blew up when I kept reading about Mich Hamlin, an undergraduate student, who grew up homeless set to graduate Cal Poly Pomona with honor and plans to get his doctorate. That was the first time I knew about the term “homeless college students”. I could not explain how and why people can survive to achieve success. I mean I could not imagine where people go, what they do after school every day.…
