Homeless Man's Funeral: A Short Story

Seven years after we first met on that wet miserable evening. Charles was release from his job and started to be on the street again, then placed into a shelter. Only three weeks after Charles sadly passed away in that shelter for the homeless, after being vigorously stabbed by another homeless man with Schizophrenia. The man was hallucinating, sensing paranoia, and was hearing voices.

The weather had turned to dark and mysterious, with slight rain. Of course. Right on the day of the funeral for my most dearest friend. It was a close casket funeral, strange but my mind wasn’t set on that. Let me be honest with you.
“I’m suffering, My best friend death, and me now being broke because I spent all I had to attend this funeral.” I said inside

“Can you take off your mask?” I asked again

“No!” He screamed

“Okay, calm down.” I said calmly.

“Can I go please, I won’t tell anybody, I promise” I said

“Fine, but I swear if you tell anybody, I will find you and kill you.” He said

He untied me and pick me up off of the bed and told me to get out of here, walking towards the door I stop in my tracks and asked.

“Why do you have dirt stains on your coat?” I said.

“Don’t worry about it.” He replied

He turns around and I quickly sprinted towards him pushing him off balance, He hits the ground with a solid thud sending a shockwave of energy to my feet. I tried to pin him but he’s really strong and pushes me off, and connects his elbow to my cheek bone, stunned from the blow and tried to center myself as fast as I can. I get my center of gravity back , the fight is back on. 25 minutes of just blocking each other's’ blows, I finally landed a strong right hook to his jaw line. He goes spiralling down to the ground, not waiting a second I manage to pin him with my knees then proceed to take off the mask that was covering his face. Like a bear looking for food, I rip off the chrome plated face mold with a red lining that holds his face to the
