“For the 2.5 million kids living in homeless shelters, a birthday doesn’t always mean a celebration. Lots of shelters don’t have the resources to provide things like cards, presents or cake” (Kassoy). 2.5 million kids are plenty and all of those kids have birthdays that need to be celebrated. Some homeless kids do not even have parents or anyone to love them. I think that writing encouraging cards to homeless kids on their birthdays is a good idea. I can make sure kids feel valued and loved on their big day! Every child deserves a happy birthday on their special day. An encouraging card can put a smile on someone's face who has not smiled in years or someone who is thinking about hurting themselves or others. These kids have to grapple to
