During a large convention, there is often too many people using their smartphones for the cellular networks to handle. An agency came up with idea to benefit the people using Wi-Fi, as well as people who have become marginalized in society. Involving some homeless volunteers to act as mobile hotspots to better the cellphone connection at the convention, by giving the homeless people wireless 4G devices, a t-shirt, and a business card. The volunteers would also receive $20 a day. In order for the people to receive a “homeless hotspot”, they had to make a donation, and the volunteers got to keep whatever donation was given to them to act as a hotspot for the public. Some liked this idea, while other did not like the idea.
For the Deontological side of the scenario, they may think the agency is in the wrong for coming up with this idea. A Teleologist could say that letting the homeless peoples interact with the public will open up every one’s eyes on the stereotypes about the homeless. Such as, they all do drugs and alcohol, and have a lesser importance than any other person. One can say that it is a great idea to be offer than some money, as they are homeless and have a difficult time to find employment. Another statement from teleologist may be, that offering the homeless a donation to be a “homeless hotspot” is a great idea, as they need money to eat and do all the necessities to live.
