The rise of the homeless population is often seen within the big cities, a huge number of people tend to migrate to urban settings so as to achieve a blue collar job or fulfill their childhood dreams. Sometimes these dreams get crushed and destroyed, especially after the economy went down it has become hard for businesses to employ new staff and some have had to cut back on their labor. However, being homeless could happen to due to a traumatic event in one’s life, loss of a loved one or in some cases divorce costs could actually make an individual become homeless. In some cases, people have been homeless due to increased cost of complicated medical issues, mental illness or depression. The high cost of living is likely to affect individuals

Most of the homeless individuals have to accept the fact they could possibly live on the streets forever and that is devastating. Henceforth, most of them tend to look for ways to relieve the pressure and escape the reality that they are facing.The abuse of drugs and alcohol is common amongst homeless individuals, despite the increased dangers faced while on is under the influence of drugs. Some individuals still think of it as a coping mechanism, a way to survive within the society’s rude remarks about one’s life. The abuse of drugs has its consequences the spread of HIV/AIDS, STD’s and one being addicted to the drug that they are fully dependent on the drug. Such individuals fall victim to situations such as crime and violence. Some of them develop psychological issues and need to be institutionalized and like many of them they end up imprisoned. Despite the society’s view on homelessness, many communities offer shelters for victims who are homeless. In these shelters food and accommodation is offered to these individuals though some of these resources can be limited, some of the religious organizations have come forth and offered similar support. Local food banks have been set up in most of the communities as well, to help feed the homeless the AGAPE food banks is one of the few well known food
