Homeland Security Department
According to the United States Government, Federal Agencies Department of Homeland Security website, The Homeland Security department was established in 2002 from a collaboration of 22 other departments and agencies. The homeland security is just what is names says it’s an agency that tries to find ways to improve security for America. Everyone knows that the military plays an important role in Homeland security, however there are a few parts to the department that some might now realize are, the following is a list of some of the other departments that are also part of homeland security: Customs, Border, immigration enforcement, emergency response to natural and manmade disasters, antiterrorism, and cybersecurity.

Inspector General- is the head investigator within the organization.
Health Affairs- are going to investigate biological issues, research on biological and chemical issues that threaten the health of US citizens.
Intergovernmental Affairs – communicates with tribal and territorial governments.
Intelligence & Analysis – Through diligent research and testing, IA provides intelligence in a timely manner on such issues as aviation security, border security, cyber networks, counter violent extremism.
Operations Coordination and Planning- basically monitors all 50 states on a daily bases and providing America with 24/7 security.
Citizenship & Immigration Services Ombudsman- is the liaison between this branch of homeland security and congress. This office evaluates individual cases and provides recommendations.
Chief Privacy Officer- provide a privacy structure for programs in departments as well as transparency when required.
Civil Rights and Civil Liberties – secure the rights and liberties of people within the law.
Domestic Nuclear Detection Office- they find the bombs! And nuclear weapons, they coordinate responses to these types of threats

Customs and Border protection, the name says it all you have to go through Customs when you are entering or leaving the United States. They are at all our borders regardless if it’s land or sea.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services provides immigrants that would like to live in the US the opportunity to become Citizens and go through the process.
U.S. Coast Guard are on the sea front patrolling our water boarders. They provide search and rescue missions and are there when a natural disaster hits that involves water.
Federal Emergency Management Agency known as FEMA response during disastrous situations. Providing assistance, education and relief. They organize relief groups to go in and assist. Right now they are dealing with the issues in Louisiana and the flooding. They even have an app with weather alerts.
U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement- of course there are some that come to the country illegally and this agency is in charge of enforcing the laws and policies we have in place and returning those that do not follow the proper channels to their country of origin.
U.S. Secret Service (is a joke) um I mean they are the defense of the president like his personal fleet of body guards. Not just for the president but for any government
