Moreover, The Marching Chiefs provide much more to the community than just music and a half-time performance. The college atmosphere often extends off campus and into the surround community. It is obvious that Tallahassee is home to the Seminoles; whether it is shown through the display of Florida State signs, bumper stickers, or even local business names, people living or visiting Tallahassee know that Florida State University is here. This sense of pride also creates a sense of togetherness within the community. The Marching Chiefs play a crucial role by producing a common sound that represents the university.…
In this night after the parade, homecoming king and queen are crowned, and they also show an appearance at the parade. Sophomore class president Michael Abruzzo, gave an inside look on how the float…
Actions define consequences is ethical. In the cartoon “Mascots” it virtuously shows the truth about school mascots. In the Excerpt “Lather and Nothing Else” consequentially the barber could have murdered the general but chose not to due to his morals. In the song “Independence Day” deontologically a mother protects her daughter from an abusive relationship. To begin, High schools should be able to use Indians or Native Americans as a mascot because virtuously it isn’t being used in a disrespectful way, but in a more respectful way.…
I had a great time at my dance trip to chicogo. We went to go see Willas tower, it was really cool because there was a glass area where you could step into, it hung 4 feet off the buliding. When you looked down you could see the busdy streets under you, it felt like you were going to fall. Then we went to the mall. We danced friday, saterday and sunday for seven hours everyday.…
The best parade this year was the Raisin Day parade in my opinion. We were going strong and keeping the same pace without getting tired. This is what showed that this band was not going to back down from all the amazing bands that we would soon face. I was also proud and very impressed of how the band stayed focused when they needed to be focused during the time of learning our field show.…

This year Clark Atlanta University’s homecoming was October 9th-15th. Big noses, tomahawks, war paint, feathered headdresses: these are the types of things people think of when they hear that a school or sports team has a Native American mascot. These representations, although many people do not believe it, are racist. My high school’s mascot happens to be the chieftain and up until my senior year, it was represented as a characterized head of an indigenous person. Many students in the school fought to, as they put it, “save the chieftain,” failing to see that using a native person as a mascot is not honoring their culture. This issue is not confined to my school, recently in the media there has been a debate on whether or not the Washington Redskins must change their offensive name and logo.…
There are several things that I can do personally to make this marching season amazing. First, I want to maintain a healthy diet. I think being able to have a healthy diet can help me come to rehearsal and have plenty of energy. Secondly, I will start having a morning routine of workouts. These workouts will help me during the season so I will give my best performance.…
On saturday we went to Lincoln Financial Field for the Temple homecoming game against Tulane. Temple was (4-0) and Tulane was (2-2). We’ve gone for the past three years. We also got up at 6:00, then left at 6:30 to go pick up Jace and Emma. The ride there was boring as usual.…
This is my third year as a high school cheerleader. I am currently serving as the senior high cheer captain. Through the past three years of my high school career, cheer has continually impacted my life positively in more than one aspect. It has opened numerous doors for me. It has made me not only more physically active, but also more active in my school.…
All around Louisiana, the people celebrate Mardi Gras in early spring. Urban cities such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge utilize fancy bright lighted parades, celebrity kings and queens, and shiny beads to celebrate the festivities. Growing up in south Louisiana, I attended many of these parades in the Big Easy. My grandparents would tell stories of rural Mardi Gras and the Cajun culture. After hearing their stories, I decided to attend the Courir de Mardi Gras.…
The most graceful and grueling performing art of all, ballet, was created during the Italian Renaissance period and was later developed in France and Russia. It is a technical form of dance that includes ravishing, elegant arm movements along with perplexing, impressive footwork. Consisting of more than just steps, it allows space for both physical and mental growth. Ballet provides more than just the ability to perform steps and recognize the corresponding names, such as “plie” or “pirouette”. Long-lasting effects are presented on human beings, such as physical and mental improvements.…
When the principal announced her name as the third representative of her grade, she felt truly…
We sat in the bleachers occasionally glancing at our phones while Mrs. Jones stated, “I am glad to have seen this class improve throughout the years! I want to show you my gratitude by presenting a gift to all of you. Thomas County Central High School hasn’t accomplished this goal since the early 1980’s. The Senior Class of 2016 will have a class portrait!!” We applauded as the photographer was ushered in.…
