In this part Kek gets introduced to American school.
On page 69 Kek says “My mouth will not stop smiling” In part one Kek wasn't really happy with America or even anything. But now in part two Kek is learning that he can get his own desk and he can learn for 5 days a week. Kek is used to that because in Africa Kek went to school, but it was hard because they didn't have the things that a basic school needs.
School is not the only new thing that Kek experienced in this part. Kek made his friend, Hannah. He met her on the first day of school while they were at lunch. That helped Kek because Kek was introduced to more friends and became more familiar to the American culture as he made more friends and became better at talking to people in english. After this Kek makes a huge mistake and tried to help out but it backfired because he put the dishes into the washing machine and broke all of the dishes. Although It was a big mistake Kek did become more connected because he became better friends with hannah. After the incident on Page 100 this happened “I laugh, then she laughs and before I know it we’re laughing hard on the floor” Kek had the idea to help his aunt pay for the dishes.
