I am going to talk about what Dr. Totsika & Sylva said what the HOME assessment is about and how is related to child development for infant and toddler children. Dr. Totsika and Sylva studied this topic in 2004 and how they observed the ages of infant and toddler children. What is the meaning of the HOME? The (HOME) is Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment is where the assessment created with this type of measurement as follows: a naturalistic context, a quality and quantity of simulation, and any type of support for the child in a home setting (Totsika and Sylva pg. 25). The Home Assessment measured by the family and home environment to evaluate the intervention programs such as health services and for example of that is preterm infants (Totsika and Sylva pg. 30). In further detail, the intervention programs where they discussed and it includes home and center-based programs for infant and toddler children to help the children’s learning and growth of their brain. The HOME assessment also described, “As a predictor of attachment status.” For an example of that where the children most likely to have an insecure avoidance more than the insecure controlling environment experience. As I watched the video of the assessment, the child’s name was Jason, a male and his age probably about 10 months old. Jason’s mom takes cares of him while her husband is working for the job to support his family. The home where they live is in an apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom. I saw in the video where they have books where Jason’s mom can read to him and can play with his toys in the main living room. The mother and the infant responded the questions firmly and made eye contact with the person questioning them. The video took about 18
