You Just Cannot Beat Home Cooked Meals During the holidays let’s face it we all come home eagerly for those fresh and delicious home cooked meals. I honestly can’t remember how many times I get called to dinner by two simple words “Family Time”. Still to this day I can’t see how anyone can compare fast food to home cooked meals. The benefits of having home cooked meals are enormous and it makes fast food look like a joke when it comes to nutrition, saving money, expanding your knowledge of food and spending time with family and loved ones. Nutrition is definitely a must to live a long healthy life, there is no argument there. I can’t even begin to express how much a home cooked meal means to me. If cooking a meal at home means getting to cut out what I think is unnecessary in my diet that alone can brighten up a day. Being able to be in control of the food you cook and eat is an amazing process. That means knowledge that the food is clean, fresh and that the portions are appropriate. Being aware of any foods someone may be allergic to and having a peace of mind that anyone eating the food will not get food poisoning or any illness from the food cooked. By cooking meals at home people also learn what everybody’s “poison” is and make their favorite dishes whenever possible while expanding their knowledge of food in the process. However I strongly believe it’s the home cooked meals that keeps families together during these tough times with the economy, technology and stress that gets in the way. Being at the table surrounded by loved ones, sharing the delicious home cooked meals is great for family bonding. Learning from one another, making future plans and connecting with family is important. We need to stress the importance of home cooked meals over fast food. Start people off young trying to be healthier and educate them on the importance of diet and nutrition. Expressing the dangers of fast food when it comes to the lack of nutrition it holds and the chemicals that are inside the foods. The cost of purchasing it over extended periods of time and how it adds up financially. But most importantly show the all the benefits that home cooked meals brings to one and their
