During my interview I asked how she as an administrator is able to manage such a large number of people. Her reply was simple. You don’t do it by yourself, she said effective delegation of duties is part of being a good administrator. Know when to take a job for yourself. Know when to delegate it to others. And especially know who to delegate it to so the job gets done. Her responsibilities entail oversight of the company not micromanagement of every single detail (N. Dimaano, personal communication, Oct. 9, 2015). Empowering subordinates are key to an organization’s success. A candidate must provide evidence of at least one year of training and experience in direct health care service delivery and at least one year within the last five years of supervisory or administrative management experience in home health care or related health program. The health care field, however, is very competitive and merely having the minimum requirements will not get you hired as an administrator that job title I think requires somebody proven, with commensurate experience and education. From my interview I asked Mrs. Dimaano if there are any guidelines that she as an administrator follows to perform her duties. She told me there are a myriad of requirements that an administrator needs to follow in the operation of a home health care service, too many to discuss for the allotted time of the interview. In an attempt to summarize them she first needs to uphold the regulations and scope of practice as a registered nurse. After which she needs to follow Virginia regulations for the licensure of home care organizations chapter 381 which contains a multitude of sections all equally important. She also complies with the guidelines set by their accrediting agency JCAHO. She also has to follow state and federal regulations regarding employment and pay. It would take days even months to fully understand the intricacies of running a fully compliant home health care
