Confidentiality for home based child care setting is essential to create and maintain a trusting and respectful relationship with children and their families. Child carers should respect the privacy of the children and the families at all times, and information both written and verbal should be considered confidential at all times.
Disclosure of information can be done with specific permission of the parent or guardian, for example if you wish to display a photo of the child for visitors in your home. There may also be incidences where some confidential information is required to be shared if you are working with colleagues or assistants, on a need to know basis. For example, health information regarding allergies for staff that are making a meal for the child.
