Kolev, Kaloyan Writing Assignment One 9/8 The Sermon on the Mount 10/05/2015 Medieval European History The second most important teaching of The Sermon on the Mount is that God’s followers should not worry about food or clothing, because life is much more than that. Jesus assures the people that if they serve their Father, they will be able to “seek and find” everything they need to live a comfortable life (7:8).…
Does your school have a Spirit week? At konawaena high this is a one week of school pride and enjoyment in a standard school calendar year. This years Spirit week is composed of pajamas day, retro day, identical twin day, dynamic duo day, and everyone in Green day respectively. moreover it doesn't matter what themes a school chooses for Spirit week it depends on the amount of Spirit that is put into each day. Once again, Clark H. Pinnock opens wide my eyes to the power of the Holy Spirit at work in the world through the church. He highlights the need for the church to be empowered by the Spirit in order to complete God’s mission. For example, Pinnock says, “Like Jesus, the church must live not out of its own resources but by the power of the indwelling Spirit, which breathes, strengthens, inspires and guides” (Pinnock 115). This is a huge reminder for me not to depend on the world’s ideas or even my personal talent to communicate the Gospel; but rather, allow the Spirit to work through me. Also, there is a temptation within churches; and even the church I lead, to get “butts in seats” through fancy tactics rather than having people filled with the…
What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…
A couple weeks ago, Holy Ghost had its annual service trip to the Dominican Republic. I had heard about the trip from Dr. O’Connor when I did the summer enrichment program in 6th grade. I looked forward to going on the trip when I got to Ghost, and I got the chance this summer. At first I was really nervous, but by the second day there I realized how special the trip truly is. I got to give my Spanish a jog, I got to meet a ton of new people, and I had my eyes opened to a new way of living.…
Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials What am I meant to do in this world? Many people ponder this question as they grow up and begin to make an impact on the realm around them. As people mature they start to form their view of the world, understand their purpose and behave accordingly (DiVinceno 2014). There are many worldviews throughout the earth and each have their own history and influence.…
Spirit week is a time for people to show their spirit for the school they go to, but is it necessary. Most school around the country have a week once a school year where people can participate in certain activities to show off their school spirit. Do schools really need it though. Even though students can express their school spirit, spirit week is not educational, can be a distraction, and is not particularly popular. For these reasons i believe that spirit week is not needed.…
“Five, four, three, two, one! We’ve got spirit, you’ve got none!” are the shouts of Konawaena high school students. It’s spirit week and many students are excited, but is spirit really all that important. While it makes school enjoyable, spirit week does not contribute to any sort of academics and distracts students from learning.…
Explain the relationship between Jesus and the Spirit and why it is significant for our salvation. The Gospel of John, in the words of John the Baptist, recognizes the relationship between Jesus and the Spirit; “On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit” (John 1:33-34). As such the Spirit is seen as a separate entity who works in conjunction with Jesus in the role of salvation. Understand that the Spirit has always been at play in the world.…
“Set your affections on things above; love one another; commune at the table of our Lord in one spirit; worship in spirit and in truth; and if daily adoring, imploring, and living the divine Life, Truth, Love, thou shalt partake of the bread that cometh down from heaven, drink of the cup of salvation, and be baptized in Spirit,” wrote Mary Baker Eddy in 1898 (Christian Science Versus Pantheism). Mrs. Eddy (as she is colloquially referred to by her followers) was the woman who came to found the Christian Science religion, based on the metaphysical New Thought movement, in 1879 (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”). For individuals who are born into the modern Christian Science church, understanding the concept of “divinity” in the…
In this essay, I will be talking about what I believe to be true from what Jesus tells us in the Bible, about being the Son of God and how He was here to die on the cross for our sins, showing everyone who He was and who ever believe in Him is save, or healed if they were sick. In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. Did his disciples believe he was God? The accuracy of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels, that is, did Jesus rise bodily from the dead?…
Amidst the dilution and misinterpretation of Scripture in this day and age, J. Todd Billings’ take on how Scripture should be interpreted was utterly refreshing, although extremely repetitive. It is obvious in the first chapter that Billings is in the Trinitarian soteriology camp. He emphasizes constantly throughout his book that reading and interpreting biblical text without the guidance of the Holy Spirit is futile and useless. He uses numerous examples on how Scripture should be read and understood, both individually and as a whole church. Undoubtedly, Billings has an extremely high view that Christians should be made more and more into the image of Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, as they delve deeper into the Word.…
Faith can be an incredibly difficult thing to obtain. Some people can make religion look easy and find an everlasting peace in God, while others cannot experience this relationship. Looking at the Catholic background, there are countless pieces of evidence and scholarly people that back the stories of the bible as true. Even when looking at the available body of information that supports Catholicism, the entire belief resides on a foundation of faith. All the dogmas, doctrines, and disciplines that comprise the framework of the Catholic religion mean nothing without faith.…
Ever since I was a little girl, I have attended church. My family has always gone, even before my sister and I were born. They would take us every week and raised us as Godly girls. Growing up in church had its ups and downs, but for me there were many more ups and positive aspects of church in my life.…
