Hello Emiliano, things have been going great here in Florence at least for now, my father is still a notary here in Florence, it's hard being the middle child sometimes, father always prefers Andrea and Giorgio rather than me. The year is 1436, time goes by so fast, ever since you left, it's been cloudy here in Florence lately, many big storms have gone by. The Holy Roman empire has been getting many supporters, the HRE has been spreading rapidly and Florence is now part of it. I'm in the middle of working on the domes final details before it's finished for the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. I wanted something to cover the top of the church and something to protect it as well from enemies and also wanted no supports (Flying Buttresses) so enemies could not take down the church so easy. What inspired me to build the dome for the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore was the buildings of classical Rome, SInce architecture was very important in Florence. …show more content…
I used the linear perspective that I rediscovered, and in order for the church to stand and not collapse, I used the herringbone brick pattern that absorbs all of the weight of the dome. In my opinion, I knocked it out of the Roman Colosseum (ball park}, my work of art was very successful because it was the first monument that was build with no supports, and has an iron coating to prevent from enemies and a texture to prevent from rain. Since Northern renaissance had fewer innovations, and they were also very religions, the dome for the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore was a big hit. There will be many more stunning monuments that I will design since I am giving up on being a goldsmith and sculptor and focusing more on architecture. Things will get better soon Emiliano, i hope you are doing great old friend, i'll see you and the rest of the family

Although the Crusades were fought over eight hundred years ago some of the same problems still exist today.…

It is hard to imagine the engineering feat orchestrated by Filippo Brunelleschi on the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral in the early 1400’s. Brunelleschi seemed destined in his early years for some great architectural work. He was described as a young genius of sorts who in his youth developed his skill as an artist and expert working in metals and wood. He spent much of his time studying the engineering proficiency of ancient architects and their works.…

During this time a series of significant architects oversaw the evolution of its design in a changing religious context. Maderno’s façade epitomized a key idea of the Renaissance that perspective was a means to transfer the ideal to the real.
