A couple weeks ago, Holy Ghost had its annual service trip to the Dominican Republic. I had heard about the trip from Dr. O’Connor when I did the summer enrichment program in 6th grade. I looked forward to going on the trip when I got to Ghost, and I got the chance this summer. At first I was really nervous, but by the second day there I realized how special the trip truly is. I got to give my Spanish a jog, I got to meet a ton of new people, and I had my eyes opened to a new way of living. I can truly say that the week altered my perspective of life. On the Thursday of the trip I found out that there was drinking going on. I, one who never drink at parties or anything, was honestly disappointed. The last thing I wanted to happen was for the trip to be ruined. It eventually turned into a situation where everyone I was hanging out with was drinking, so I decided to have a drink to give it a try and to fit in. When everyone started to get rowdy I left to hang out with the other sober sophomores. In the morning, Mr. Vierlinck came around questioning everyone about drinking, …show more content…
First, I think a sad truth that I learned is that even if I only put one toe in the water, I get pulled in just as much as everybody else. But more importantly, I learned that in my handling of the situation, I only made it worse. I didn’t see the bigger picture of the whole thing; I was only concerned about my own well-being, and looking back, I now realize that even though my individual mistake was small and stupid, it didn’t help to improve the situation, which was what I needed to do. The good that we all did out there is so much bigger than a drink and a suspension, and in my lack of action in the moment, I put all of that in danger. I think that coming out of the whole thing, I learned that even though I’m upset about my grades getting wrecked in September because of the suspension, I feel even worse about the potential damage I created, and for that, I am truly

With superheroes and dinosaurs stomping out all competition at the box office this summer season so far, it is hard to forget about some other promising films that are on the way to theaters over the course of the next year. This is the undisputed time of the sequel in Hollywood, so it's only natural that “Ghostbusters” will be getting in on the act. Well, actually, the new “Ghostbusters” film that is planned for release in the summer of next year will be more of a reboot of the original movie from 1984. Still, it will not be conceptually different from the original movie, so it is in keeping with the trend of continuing movie properties that audiences are already familiar with.…

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…

We learned that night that if there is a sizeable group of drunk teenagers wanting you to leave and you’re not prepared for a fight then you should leave. The feeling of getting chased down by people that we didn’t even know and not knowing what to do is not a feeling that I want again. Next time, though, I will be ready to fight or we will just leave when they tell us…

“During the day, I don’t believe in ghosts. At night, I’m a little more open-minded” said an unknown author. Like this author many people are on the fence on the existence of ghosts. Ghosts are most likely real because people have had interactions with them, they can be scientifically proven, and nobody can move on from unfinished business.…

Service is something that is near and dear to my heart, and this trip was no exception. My FYS group and I went to a local non for profit Atlas (Attaining Truth, Love, And Self-control) to do projects they needed done. This organization works with troubled people who need a mentor or a shoulder to lean on. Because they are a non for profit and are very busy, the people on pay roll didn’t have the time to do yard work or extra jobs around the building.…

That is such a great way of looking at things. I don't always hear that same mindset from other actors. But I think it's great because if you don't hold it against that show, that show may be calling you some time down the road to audition for something different. If you're holding it against them, then you might miss out on booking that role later on down the road. Exactly.…

The summer after my sophomore year, I went on a mission trip to Haiti with my church’s youth group. There, I served by building a house for a family affected by the earthquake that shook Haiti in 2010 and did minor repairs and clean up at the mission base I stayed at. At the end of each day, my team and I would come back to the base to discover it flooded with children. The kids would cling to your side and beg for you to play with them in the limited English they spoke. From the moment after I ate dinner to the time I went to bed, I played with the Haitian children- chasing them around the little yard, teaching them hand clapping games, and carrying them on my back.…

Generally, the practice of phallic worship is found within the majority of ancient groups and various scholars such a James Weir, M.D., believes that its presence had been implanted in human nature since the beginning of time. The concept of Satan as an ‘evil spirit’ in our modern day definition exists a great number of times as a made-up superstition; on the contrary, the ancients believed they had a real life spiritual force that steadily advanced through time. In light of this, essentially due to the good intentions of ancient people destroying untold amounts of satanic ruins, objects, and other relics as a means of purification, the visible reality of Satan as an authentic supernatural presence has been extremely diluted since the earliest…

This past summer I was accepted into a volunteer program in La Alberca, Spain. There, I spent 10 days with Spanish students in my age range improving their english communication skills. Receiving the confirmation for this experience excited me but in the rear of my mind lived a huge fear of flying then living across the world for two weeks without my mother. Conquering the fear of traveling alone to a foreign country and having the experience volunteering was both an obstacle and enlightening experience in my life and has influenced my growth into young adulthood.…

“Set your affections on things above; love one another; commune at the table of our Lord in one spirit; worship in spirit and in truth; and if daily adoring, imploring, and living the divine Life, Truth, Love, thou shalt partake of the bread that cometh down from heaven, drink of the cup of salvation, and be baptized in Spirit,” wrote Mary Baker Eddy in 1898 (Christian Science Versus Pantheism). Mrs. Eddy (as she is colloquially referred to by her followers) was the woman who came to found the Christian Science religion, based on the metaphysical New Thought movement, in 1879 (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”). For individuals who are born into the modern Christian Science church, understanding the concept of “divinity” in the…

At the beginning of this year, I decided to dedicate my life to Christ. After coming back home from a winter retreat, I concluded that I need to talk to pastor to get baptized, and I did on April 23, 2017. Shortly thereafter, I went on a mission trip to Washington, D.C., where I really got to see God’s works at hand. My mission group and I work woke up one morning to a beautiful sunrise, and magnificent weather. Despite the fact we had to get up at five in the morning, I was eager to see what the day entailed.…
