For the holocaust, Hitler got people on his side. Once one person started following and listening to him, others did too. Everyone that followed a different religion except for Jewish listened to Hitler and started doing everything he told them to do. The Crucible had the same thing happening. In Act 1, Tituaba says, “And then he come one stormy night to me, and he say, look I have white people belong to me. And I look and there was Goody Good.” Parris responds to that, “Sarah Good?” Tituba then says, “Aye, sir, and Goody Osbourne.” (Miller 1262). Tituba is talking about the devil coming to her one night with people. She is accusing these people for being with the devil and being a witch. It’s just a lie to get herself out of being killed. Once she did, Abigail joined and a lot of other people did too. In the trials, people started to accuse others to try to get the attention off of them. They would even accuse innocent people. In the holocaust Hitler had a big name throughout the world and strongly valued his reuputation. “From the beginning of his regime, Adolf Hitler used mass detention as a weapon, arresting and holding those whom he perceived as posing a threat to his power. (Axelrod). He didn’t want anyone thinking he was anything less than what he wanted to be even if he had to do bad things. Also, people would give up Jews so that they Hitler or anyone else didn’t think there name was bad. They would do this even if it is wrong, or not the truth. In the Crucible, many people would lie to save their name. “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because its my life and sign myself to lies! How may I live without my name!” This is someone from the play saying how her name and reuputation is very important and nothing will change that. Also, an example about this from The Crucible would be when Abigail lied about sleeping with John Proctor. She couldn’t give up her name in the town and she didn’t want too. She lied about it and decided that her reputation was more important then what’s right to do. The Crucible and the holocaust both have people valuing their reputation above the truth and what’s
