The Difference between Night and Life Is Beautiful Generally, the Holocaust is called the worst part history of WW2. People try to pass this cruel history to the next generations to avoid this happening again forever. Night and Life Is Beautiful are popular examples that are used to learn about the Holocaust. The writers made these works to tell the truth what happened at that time, for us. However, even though this two are used a lot in studying, they have different points of view in their stories. They are similar, but different. In Night and Life Is Beautiful, the main characters are young sons and their fathers, and the authors focused on carefully their emotions. Night focused on how exactly Elie felt; therefore, throughout this story, it showed grief of him and his father. Alternatively, Life Is Beautiful is concentrated how the father changed a miserable situation into a fun surrounding for his beloved son, because of his behavior, this story is filled with kindness. The former atmosphere is full of reality and cruelty, but the latter one is filled with beauty of the relationship between the father and his son. That is the largest difference. The second difference is the father’s existence for sons. In Night, Elie’s emotion for his father was gradually changing. That shows in the end of the story where he could not cry for his father and he felt free as if he were released from the chain of his father. On the other hand, in Life Is Beautiful, eventually, the father was killed by German solider. However, his son is still proud of him after growing up without him. He does not change recognition for his father. The difference is because of the age of each son at that time.
