Hollow Earth Myths

For centuries, scientists have searched for life beyond the Earth, looking for extraterrestrials. The mystery of Hollow Earth is where the Earth is made up of a hollow shell with mystical creatures living inside, some stories suggest this world is where UFOs come from. Theories about the Earth’s core are ever changing, and while there is no concrete proof about what is hidden beneath the ground with such a world existing, many theories have passed along through the generations such as, the inner Earth being a spiritual place for the dead, Earth is nothing but solid rock with other minerals that make up the inside, and the Earth is hollow and is holding different types of species unknown to mankind.

The gatekeepers of a sacred land underneath the Earth are the Macuxi Indians who had known about hollow Earth for nearly one-hundred years (Ivan). Ivan also writes the Macuxi Indians live in the Amazon and legends have said they are the Sun’s children (The Hollow). The Indians were set out to protect the entrance to the inner world as well as the people within from the outside world. With history of man cutting down forests to build upon the entrance to hollow Earth had been hidden within the Amazon and the folk tales are the only thing that still remains today.
Another popular theory of the Earth is it consists of a solid inner core, and an outer core made up of liquid iron. Earth is still a mystery, not fully able to be studied, and scientists are unable to reach the center of the Earth with digging. The deepest hole ever drilled is the SG-3 borehole which drilled to 7.3 miles deep and is part of the Soviet Kola Superdeep Borehole project (“Hollow”). Because the Earth is much deeper than 7 miles, Geologists rely on seismic wave velocity and free oscillation frequencies (Walia). The Earth is made up of an inner and outer core. The inner core is roughly about 1,500 miles in diameter and is solid made of iron (Inside). The outer core is about 1,387 miles in diameter and composed of liquid iron and nickel (“Core”). There is a layer

Halley was determined to prove to the world that this world exists setting the motion for other people to follow in his footsteps and to continue the search. Following Halley’s thesis, in the 1800s John Cleves Symmes, an Ohio-born military officer, travelled the United States teaching about hollow Earth and attempting to raise money for the expedition (Whitsel). Symmes petitioned to the government to fund his expedition but was later denied halting his plans.
With the Earth always changing via it be earthquakes or the weather getting hotter, the openings to this mystery world may soon be visible. Earth is still a big mystery to this day, until technology advances the world may never know what lies beneath. Maybe there is a higher power obstructing the outer world in finding this utopia

The Ancient Greek astronomers played an integral part in the construction of modern astronomy and our current understanding of our solar system. They were far from the first ancient astronomers; most of their work was built upon pre-existing knowledge from the Babylonians and Egyptians. However, what distinguishes the Ancient Greek philosophers from their predecessors was their attempt to not only observe the night sky but also to understand it. The Greek astronomers theorised the workings of different aspects of the solar system in order to both explain how it worked and to predict future movements.…

From the biggest cities to the smallest of molecules, the earth and its dynamics have been widely studied over the span of human history. Bright individuals have made astounding discoveries that has allowed the human race to come closer to finding an answer explaining the forces at work around them. Starting from the early days of the Grecian empire with Aristotle and Plato to the challenging ideals of Newton and Copernicus, science has been completely redefined and continues to grow as a result. Thomas Kuhn described particular scientific events, such as the transition from Aristotelian to Newtonian physics, as a paradigm shift that is realized when questioning the flaws of the then understood subject.
