Studying in Perugia will stimulate my college experience in many ways that residing at Hollins cannot. While abroad, I will learn a new language and practice it with native Italian speakers. This will promote both my linguistic and cultural skills. While I could learn a language in a classroom setting, being able to speak fluently in a public setting will solidify the language and allow me to communicate effectively; I can’t just translate small passages on paper. This experience will also expose me to varying people and countries, teaching me about diverse cultures, and, in turn, my own culture.
