That's how I believe Hollins would benefit from having me as member of their community. I have an abundance of ideas and there are many roles that I make an effort to adhere to. For instance, If I have an alternative idea that might be more effective, then I would discuss it amongst my professors and fellow classmates. The top three colleges I chose are Hinds Community College, Mississippi State University, and Alcorn State University . Hinds is my first choice because I visited Hinds’ Nursing Allied Health Center on one of my various CDC field trips and I was amazed. I was shown how to be prepared for CPR, how to read the blood pressure machine, and just learn about all the programs they have to offer. I actually did plenty of .research on nursing and I think Hinds is just the place for me .…

A host of “outsiders” have been my passport to educational opportunities that are otherwise rarely discussed. I am deeply appreciative of the knowledge and understanding of what is possible they have given me. While my family has little time to explore Maine’s trails, living on less than $16K/year, I normally trek everywhere, just not in as beautiful settings. In camps people from any and everywhere join our campfire meals. Frequently populated with college aspirants and graduates who paint glowing pictures of their alma maters and how their education translated into future success are the most interesting to me.…

Life's a journey worth taking the unbeaten path. That is why, despite looking up to my loving parents and having the utmost respect for them, I have taken a different road than they did. However, undergoing any challenge without their guiding experience can certainly prove to be an undertaking. I, a first generation college student, am the pioneer of higher education for my family. Though I join many others in lunging out into the world for the first time, I am doing so without having a father or mother to tell me how to tackle the college experience.…

When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat and with goggles on, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers, until something had exploded and I had discovered the best way to make flowers the size of people. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world. Funnily enough, I discovered what I really wanted to do when I started working at Chick-fil-A during the summer before my sophomore year. All of my friends had warned me against working in fast food, quoting horrible smells and ridiculous customers and tons of grease.…

Before I share why I’d absolutely do anything to attend Pratt’s precollege summer program, and why I think it will help me in unimaginable aspects, let me give the reader some insight about me and my life. I am a Jewish 16 year old boy who grew up and is still growing up surrounded and encompassed by Jewish life. I would never knock Judaism in any regard, I believe religion, for everybody, helps gain clarification or at least purpose for even those whom are completely uninvolved. I have changed since I was a kid. As a kid, born and raised in Canada, I attended an all boys, extremely strict private school that didn’t really care if you were different or had any talent whatsoever.…

Diversity is one of many things that I believe a college should have. In order to meet the needs of all students, a school should be diverse in many different areas. One of these areas being in the classroom. No one learns the exact same way as another student, so I believe that classrooms being diverse with the ways they teach are very important in the learning process. Another area that a college should be diverse in is the classes, activities, and clubs that they offer.…

Do you remember being so young yet so bold that you would tell everyone around you the wonderful things you were going to accomplish once you were an adult? In my case, I would go around revealing that I was going to become the president of the united states or a teacher because my teacher, at the time, didn’t teach accordingly to what I wanted. Currently, as I am nearing the end of my high school career, I flash back to those fearless moments wondering where everyone, including myself, put those boundless goals and dreams. I now know that I need to take down those mental barriers and tell myself that I can not only achieve whatever I put my mind to, but also believe that I will be very passionate about it.…
