Lilac is five years old and is currently enrolled at Simpson Elementary in their preschool program; Lilac is a very active child who makes up in height with her funny personality. Lilac is considered small for her age and weighs as much as a three year would weigh. Lilac comes from a family that includes both parents and is an only child; her parents decided she will be their only one. Lilac loves to be outside and is currently learning how to fish with her father; they visit the lake every weekend. She has very few dislikes one of them being she doesn’t …show more content…
Since her mom works at a school I was able to see Lilac use scissors well playing in a math center in the classroom before we signed her out. Lilac was able to hold the scissor correctly and cutting the piece of paper she wanted. Lilac is also in the developing stage of measure 43 by completing her assignment and is able to leave the supplies at the table before getting up. After my second observation with Lilac I was able to see her complete DRDP measure’s one, two, three, four, five, and seven. She was able to show me that she has been able to show feels to another child that is sad, taking turns with one another, building relationships with adults, impulse control, recognition of own skills and accomplishments, as well as being able to show me identify to self. It was interesting to see Lilac interact with children her age. I have known Lilac for quite some time and it is amazing how smart and independent she is becoming.
As this course continued I was able to create an assessment game that went really well with Lilac. I decided to conduct a game the focused on counting and making patterns out of jewelry. Overall the assessment game I created ended up having a successful ending. Lilac was able to count to count with hardly assistances, she was also able to understand what a pattern is and how to complete one. A). Physical Developmental Goal: Lilac has shown me in an observation that she is able to kick a soccer ball but instead of it aiming for another person the ball tends to go move towards the right than straight. It would benefit Lilac to practice kicking the ball towards an object for example soccer net to improve balance and controlling which way an object goes.
B). Social/Emotional Developmental Goal: When observing Lilac in a classroom setting I saw that she is able to interact with other but it would be beneficial for Lilac to learn how to recognizes the feelings of others and be able to respond to the feelings of another child or adult. It would be also beneficial of Lilac to learn how to critical think in situations where a child is upset. When I was observing Lilac a student started to cry and Lilac just stood there not knowing how to respond to the child.
