Holi is considered the festival of colors it occurs during spring (Hazen, 2003). It occurs in either February or March of the western calendar, which is during the Hindu month of Phalgun (Hazen, 2003). During holy people throw powder color and water at each other (Hazen, 2003). The reason why it's called the festival color is because it happens when winter becomes spring and when the trees and flowers and everything is blooming and everything is colorful (Hazen, 2003). During holy it is acceptable for everybody to throw colors (Hazen, 2003). Holi originated from a story of an evil princess, whose name is Holika (Hazen, 2003).
