Reading and watching Holes is a different experience. The book Holes was written in a 1998. It is a young adult mystery comedy novel written by Louis Sachar. First published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. It won the 1998 U.S. National Book Award for Young People's Literature and the 1999 Newbery Medal for the year's. The movie version came out on April 18, 2003. Then director was Andrew Davis. It took place in US and it is a Disney movie. The book and the movie are different in three main ways, first, the way the main character, Stanley, was or was not teased in school and Camp Green Lake, second, the amount of violence in each version and finally, the value of the treasure.

This was especially true when adults hit children. For example, when the Warden stabbed Armpit with a pitchfork and put three holes in his shirt with blood. Also, when Zigzag hit the side of Stanley’s face and Stanley collapsed. The movie never showed those two violent moments. This movie does not show adults hitting children because I think it’s a Disney movie. Most of the violence happened in chapter 17.
The value of the treasure in the book was not worth a lot but in the movie it was 5 times more valuable. Maybe this was because it is a Hollywood movie and if you go through something you have to get a big prize. You can not have a movie with such a small prize at the end, so the movie’s creators made the treasure much bigger
I give Holes the movie seven out of ten. It was a good movie because Mr. Sir was funny, he made our class laugh and I liked the part when they opened the treasure and got lots of money, it was a good climax to the movie. For the book, I give it a nine out of ten because it had lots of action when the warden stabbed Armpit and made him bleed. When the Warden hit Mr. Sir in his face and they found the treasure it did not cost as much in the book. I enjoyed reading the book and I liked the action which was fun to
