Sadly, there was another time when Holden experienced death. Jame Castle had committed suicide by jumping out a dorm window. When Holden ran outside to see what all the other boys were panicking about, Jame Castle “was dead, and his teeth, and blood, were all over the place,” he was wear the same turtleneck that Holden had loaned him (170). This event has disturbed Holden, just by the way he told Phoebe, his sister, he was true unnerves by it. However, he once made a statement that seemed to be a bit insensitive, he said “I felt like jumping out the window. I probably would've done it, too, if I'd been sure somebody'd cover me up as soon as I landed. I didn't want a bunch of stupid rubbernecks looking at me when I was all gory” (104). Holden just called himself a rubberneck. As said earlier, Holden can be quite childish at times, he acts on impulse and will think of things that no one else ever pays attention too, but this isn’t entirely his fault.
