Hog Load

I really became interested in helping with a hog load out after learning that the ag450 farm had hogs. I say this because I have grown up around cattle only and have only handled pigs once where we were required to practice moving them at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. I feel like after doing my learning activity’s I have picked up vital skills that are very important to have with managing a farm like the 450

Her name was Cluckens, and I got her by chance when the FFA chapter at my junior high school had extra birds going to the fair, and I signed up to exhibit one and participate in showmanship. Even though she only received a red ribbon and I did not win showmanship, my first county fair was just a precursor for what was to come for me in agriculture, and I was hooked. Not only did I have a prosperous youth career exhibiting poultry across the state, I gained countless experiences in FFA and later 4-H, relationships with many amazing people, a college major, and most importantly, a rewarding future career.…
