Culture in an organization often stands to be the vision of an organization. It is to no surprise that in different organizations, the culture of each can vary from one to another. Without a solid or definitive culture, or even a culture that is firm, the organization often that not do not have an identity of its own. It will merely be just a profit chasing brand or label. Given that most companies largely have their own culture, often managers look to implement change or alter the culture of their company. This process is often not an easy one, primarily because culture has never been clearly defined. Culture can represent a variety of meanings to different groups in various societies around the world. Collectivism refers to how people value themselves and their groups/organizations. People with high individualistic values tend to care about self-actualization and progress in the organization, whereas people with low individualistic values (collectivism) tend to value organizational benefits more than their own interests. Young adults in the US (United States) have being raised in an individualism culture, believes that individual rights are of paramount importance. Upon reaching a certain age, they are expected to take care of themselves and relationships with parents are loose. Whereas in collectivism cultured Asian countries, such behavior are seen undesirable and alienating as children are expected to take of their elders, as they get older with age.
Masculinity vs. Femininity briefly relates to gender roles in organizations. In high masculinity cultures, not many women are appointed high level jobs or huge salaries. Women in these cultures are not highly regarded and often not taken seriously when it comes to making decisions. In low masculinity organizations, women have more opportunities to attain equitable organizational status as of their male
