Evolutionary scientists are confused at the discovery made in 2003, about the Homo floresiensis, aka the hobbit. In 2003, scientist found the remains of an 18,000 year old fossil in Flores, Indonesia. It got its nickname “hobbit”, because the skeleton of the body was only 3 feet tall. In early studies they have suggested that the hobbit was a unique branch of the Homo sapiens. However, with all the new updates of technology, they now believe that it’s really not as unique. Some researchers believe that the hobbit is a modern human who has microcephaly, “…a condition that leads to an abnormally small head, a small body and some mental retardation” (Source 1).
