“Successful technologies often begin as hobbies. Jacques Cousteau invented scuba diving because he enjoyed exploring caves. The Wright brothers invented flying as a relief from the monotony of their normal business of selling and repairing bicycles” ~ Freeman Dyson. I used this quote because it is showing how The Wright Brothers building a plane started off as a hobbie. The Wright Brothers invented the first successful airplane. The key topics in this essay are who are The Wright Brothers? What lead them to develop the airplane? How did the first flight go/ Fame? What is the Wright Company? And compare and contrast to The Dodge Brothers

The Wright Brothers were Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright. Wilbur Wright was born January 30, 1948 and Orville Wright was born April 16, 1867. They both had 3 other siblings.Wilbur excelled in school and had plans of going to Yale but got badly injured playing hockey. Most the injuries healed but the incident put him into depression. And he didn’t receive his high school diploma. Unlike his brother, Orville was a high school dropout. In 1889 the brothers started their own newspaper, called The Westside News. For example The Wright Brothers invented the plane and The Dodge Brothers Invented an advanced engine. One difference is that the plane was made first. The engine was first made in 1902 and the first plane was flown in 1908. One similarity they both have is that two people help in the making of these two inventions and they were both brothers.
