Ho was born on May 19, 1890. As a young boy, he attended local Vietnamese and French schools. He later became a sailor aboard a French freighter. Ho traveled to the United States in 1913, and after working as a day restaurant in New York City for a year, Ho sailed to London and learned how to make pastries. Ho put together a statement for Allied leaders shortly after World War ended. The statement explained that he wanted the French in Indochina to turn over the government of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos to its native citizens. Instead of turning over the government's though, the French and British had another idea. If they had done Ho’s plan though, a future war might had been prevented.
Australia and New Zealand also fought in Vietnam. Also around 76 percent of the people who served had gotten their education for high school and had not gone to college. Most of them enlisted right out of high school. A majority of the men who fought in Vietnam weren’t drafted though, most of them volunteered. My grandpa drafted right around the time that the Vietnam War started. He chose to be in the Kansas National Guard and later joined the United States Army.
Over the year, the Vietnam War has been passed on and taught. I’m very honored to have my grandpa served in the Army during the war. Although many people died, they will always be remembered as our heros. I can better understand
