Could you tell me what kind of services your child receives for their special need?
Mango doesn’t recall any services Kale received in the past, however, currently their family clan leader comes to their house regularly to check up on Kale. A Hmong nurse also sees kale during his episode when he is under the influence.

Because Mango felt that her parents were absent for most of their life, especially when Kale needed them the most, Mango stated that parents must be involved themselves in their children’ life. However, Mango said that she doesn’t hold a grudge against her parents who wanted to provide their family with food, a shelter, and money for when they went to college. Mango wished for her mom was more tenacity toward Kale’s choices of skipping classes and taking drugs because it makes her feel sad when she thinks about the what ifs.
• What are the challenges of having a child with special needs?
As mentioned pervious, a challenge Mango face daily is making sure Kale eats three times a day, exercise with her, trying to be punctual, and having to ignore disrespectful comments about Kale.
• What are the rewards of having a special needs child?
Mango shared that as many challenges she had to overcome, there are as many rewards as well. Mango had developed a great passion for helping others, which is why she chose to go into the medical field so that she can educate herself to further continuing helping Kale as will continue to face more challenges as life goes on. Mango has also become more patient and empathic as she continues to have a larger role in Kale’s life than her other family
