Hitler's Forgotten Soldier Of My Country Literary Analysis

Dennis Deletant is the author of many history books and one of them is “Hitler's Forgotten Ally: Ion Antonescu and His Regime, Romania 1940–1944”, a biography. The purpose of this book is to talk about Antonescu’s career, and how he was an honest politician in a society not noted for integrity in politics. The author’s thesis is that Romanian sovereignty was based on the identical interest which bound Hitler and Antonescu. In this He argues that Antonescu was an innocent figure, but at the same time, he was a criminal and a dictator. This book is about the history of Ion Antonescu, and what he has done for his society. Deleant’s book could be identified as a political book because it discusses a lot of wars and different regimes that Hitler and Antonescu used. Also could be identified as a biography. This book was written in a way that discusses the different regimes that Antonescu used; he was related to Germany and the Holocaust. The author’s audience are historians, scholars, and professors. Deletant argues the two different points and leaving the decision go to the reader; if it would be only one point discussed at the time, it would be more understandable and clear, and it would be easier to read the book. It is confusing when he was talking about what is happening with the Jews and how he was helping, but at the same time sending them away. Another weakness is that his conclusion is not related to every section of the book some sections are not included in the conclusion. If the sections were all included it would be more clear and organized. The book was really good, it did not have a lot of weaknesses. There are some things that could be better if they explained more or if he would just pick one point to
