The rise to power is not always righteous, and some will do whatever it takes to gain that dominance to do what they please. The novel Lord of The Flies written by William Golding is an allegory between the German Chancellor Adolf Hitler and the character Jack. Golding portrays Hitler through Jack’s actions and personality. The ability of both of them to gain power and the trust of the people is interpreted throughout the story. When a plane crashed onto a secluded island, Jack was quick to try to become the leader. He was willing to do whatever it took to be the ruler. Hitler ignited fear into all humans by starting World War II and torturing millions. He used concentration camps to kill and physical and mentally destroy human beings.

Germany was desperate and in despair from the war. They needed a leader urgently that could help the country. This fix caused, “90% of the population [to agree] with Hitler’s policies, due in part to the fact that under his reign unemployment had almost ceased and the national income had doubled” (Hitler Adolf 2). Although it seemed as though he wanted life to be better for the Germans, during his leadership he created, “the most comprehensive systematic and unrelenting part of Nazi racially based extermination” (Holocaust).
