Ahmad Choucair English 131-53 Professor Nowak February 16, 2016 Précis I The execution of Larry Wayne White is a crucial reference made by the author of the article, Christopher Hitchens. The author’s intention pointed that these assassinations were taken place during the time of the “death rows” and was considerably known as a conventional occasion. White’s death is just one set of examples. It portrays that significant passes of a loved one are not taken upon serious conditions and arranged deaths are demonstrated with little concerns.…

I found Thomas P. Stafford really interesting to read about. He has always seemed to have an exciting life filled with action. From doing my research, I found two things particularly interesting about him. The first thing I noticed about him is that he is an author. After finishing his work with NASA, he wrote many books with others, but one of the more popular books he has written is titled We Have Capture: Tom Stafford and the Space Race.…

Writers use different methods to catch a reader 's attention, some can be caught by persuading the reader or audience using reasoning as well as facts towards the argument either positive or negative. Others could be convinced towards a certain argument over someone with authority. Stating the pros and proving them will make the audience agree with them. The audience’s attention could be shown by their reaction to a certain picture or imagine. What that picture could mean could vary and the audience uses their emotions to emphasize their statement.…

It is an awesome and fascinating book by Enid Blyton. In this book, Jack, Philip, Dinah and Lucy-Ann first became friends and find themselves spending the summer at Craggy-Tops, with Philip and Dinah's Aunt Polly and Uncle Jocelyn. We are introduced to some of the wild creatures which Philip carries about his person — including mice and a squirrel — and it's interesting, as the series progresses, to see how many different kinds of animals he manages to tame. Craggy-Tops is an isolated house, old and half-ruined, set halfway up a steep cliff in a district honeycombed with underground passages — like Smuggler's Top (Five Go to Smuggler's Top, which was published a year later, in 1945) in some respects. Aunt Polly, who looks "tired and faded,"…

The Power of Progressivism:A Close Reading of The Conversations on the Plurality of Worlds At the end of the seventeenth century, the idea of a universe existing beyond earth was inconceivable. Before the modern concept of various planets and intergalactic space travel, people received most of their knowledge through the church. The first novel to express this idea was “Conversations on the Plurality of Worlds” by Bernard Le Bovier de Fontenelle. The book was aimed at the ordinary person, and became the first science book ever published. The book is composed of a string of casual evening conversations between Fontanelle and a woman named Marquise.…

The Space Race began with the launch of Sputnik, and from then on it did nothing but heat up. The launch of Sputnik did give the Soviets a lead, but The U.S. quickly answered back with the expedited launch of their satellite, the Explorer 1. Now that the U.S. had realized that they were behind, they began making major strides in the field of space exploration. The first change that thy made was creating the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and immediately after creating the Mercury program that had the goal to put a human into orbit. The Soviets made good use of their lead, though, and in April, 1961, they put the first person (Yuri Alekseyevich) into orbit aboard Vostok 1.…

Between Two Galaxies The show opens with Marina in her quarters humming a tune while crafting a self-portrait. Some other drawings are hung up; others lay across her desk or in piles on the floor. None of the other portraits are of her, it’s a healthy variety of artistic musings. Her musings are less than inspirational as her life and surroundings are the epitomai of monotony.…

My main concern previous to this summer assignment was the level of interest I would have in the novels we read, as well as the difficulty they may contain. However, after reading, I thoroughly enjoyed the short stories and I genuinely believe that the reading level will be sufficiently difficult, yet not impossible. The amount of reading required for the summer assignment felt fairly familiar to the previous year. Nevertheless, I never had to write 5 papers in one summer. This doesn’t raise any concerns for me, however, because I did realize that AP Junior English would require more work, and I prepared myself for it.…

Whether you are aware of it or not, you have probably read a book by Ray Bradbury or a book that has been influenced by him. In fact, most students have to read a number of his readings (including Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and The Illustrated Man) as part of the required curriculum. Ray Bradbury shows the reader several contemptuous and optimistic effects technology has on mankind, he had also accomplished several phenomena about his life. Ray Bradbury is arguably the greatest science-fiction writer of all-time as proven by the prophetic nature of his work, an abundance of his writing, and influence on the genre. Ray Bradbury, American novelist, short story writer, screenwriter, and poet, was born August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois.…

In discussions of space exploration, one controversial issue has been whether or not humans should colonize space. Space colonization is the permanent habitation of any area outside of the Earth. During the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union were in competition to become the ultimate spacefaring nation. Many people in the 1960s believed that within the decade, space exploration would be possible. Now as the technology to make faster and more powerful spacecrafts is progressing, the venture is becoming more and more of a reality.…
