“The Hitchhiker” vs. The Twilight Zone

The radio play, “The Hitchhiker” and the episode in The Twilight Zone both differ and are alike in many ways. For one example they are alike because they people traveling are both named Adams and are both going to California. During their trip, they both run into construction where the hitchhiker asks if they are going to west. The end scenes are also the same but differ slightly because in the Twilight Zone after they put the phone down, it has a dialogue where as in the radio play the story just ends there. These shows are also have many different qualities.

The difference in the T.V show and the radio show is not much but affects the shows greatly. One major difference is that instead of Adams

Barrie’s play Peter and Wendy since it gives backstory to the character Peter Pan. Peter and the Starcatcher features the protagonist Peter Pan, originally a nameless orphan, who meets the brave Molly Aster while on a ship. The kids have a run in with Captain Black Stache’s band of pirates as they try to recover a chest filled with the Queen’s treasure. I will go into more detail analyzing the plot, characters, and production of Elice’s play.…

“The Hitchhiker” Compare and Contrast Essay “The Hitchhiker” radio play and Twilight Zone episode are very alike, while also being very different. For example, when they are asking about hitchhikers in the area and the cook says that he hasn’t seen any, they both deny that they have seen a hitchhiker. Also, there is the same train scene, where their car gets stuck in the train tracks while they are trying to speed away from the hitchhiker. Another similarity is that at the end when, they call their mother the same Mrs.Whitney answers and states that their mother is in the hospital because, she had a nervous breakdown.…

Literate Arts can be fine for explaining a variety of historical, crucial events. Richard E. Miller, author of The Dark Night of The Soul employs texts to display how the literate arts can be beneficial for emphasizing the importance of historical catastrophic events. Moreover, Miller employed a variety of “how,” and “why” questions and how to respond to them in his writing to the public to engage them in a conversation and question their views on the literate arts. Furthermore, Miller asks questions about historical events that have happened over time and probably impacted billions of civilians, which in my opinion is one thing the literate arts is excellent at describing.…

Introduction In 1983, when Cyndi Lauper released “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” on her album She’s So Unusual, it garnered so much fame that it became one of the most well-known feminist anthems in the country. Several artists covered the song in subsequent years, and Lauper herself released a remastered version. However, few people are aware, even today, that the song is a cover version of Robert Hazard’s original demo, recorded in 1979 but never released officially (the demo is currently available on several media platforms, including YouTube).…

Heather Ostman’s article “The Sun Also Rises” from the Encyclopedia of the American Novel begins with an explanation of the book’s title. The Sun also Rises gets its name from Ecclesiastes, which is also quoted at the beginning of the book along with a quote from Gertrude Stein about the Lost Generation. Ostman notes that the connection of Ecclesiastes hopefulness with Stein’s hopelessness sustain the feeling of meaninglessness and alienation of the characters of the book following the Great War. In The Sun Also Rises as well as other books from the time period, love seems to fail time and time again, as relationships cannot be sustained or produce children. Love seems futile in this era, Ostman points out in this work as well as in T. S. Eliot’s…

Revenge, death, and marriage are ideas that are completely different from each other, but are all some major themes that can appear in many stories or plays. They can be used as one theme, or be tied together with another to create an intriguing story. Hamlet is the story of a young prince who is seeking revenge on his uncle after he murders Hamlet’s father and marries his mother. The Taming of the Shrew tells the story of how Katherine, a wealthy shrew, is “tamed” by Petruchio, a man who marries her for money. William Shakespeare’s plays Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew have some elements such as family relationships, roles of women in society, and marriage woven into their stories that make them different and similar in many ways.…
