Hit The Ball: A Short Story

Decent Essays
There was once a boy named johnny Jessup. He loved playing baseball, in fact he hit his 1st home run when he was only 6! His dream was to one day play in the major league. When he was in 5th grade. He would hit the ball so hard that the ball would light up on fire in mid air because it was going so fast. When he tried to play baseball they wouldn't let him since he would destroy all the baseballs and bats. So he tried basketball, but he would dribble so hard that it would cause dents on the floor. He tried soccer, golf, and tennis. The problem is that he would either kick the ball too hard or hit the ball too hard. Years later he tried playing tennis. He hit the ball so high that it hit the moon, and that's why the moon has craters. Johnny

Literature demonstrates that pitch types (fastball, curveball, change-up, slider) generally have similar kinematics with only minor differences in forearm and wrist action, and even less so in the elbow and shoulder(36-40). Fleisig et al demonstrated in a kinematic study involving 21 collegiate baseball pitchers that the change-up pitch is the least stressful, while the curveball and fastball have similar elbow and shoulder kinetics, with the curveball exhibiting increased forearm supination and radial to ulnar wrist motion(40, 41). The authors concluded that no obvious source of injury could be identified from kinematic comparisons between pitches alone. However, a larger prospective cohort study of young baseball players of average age of…

In the story The Most Amazing Bowling Story Ever by Michael J. Mooney. I learned that sometimes trying to be perfect can kill you. One doesn't have to always try so hard in order to feel worthy of something. Some are just meant to be average and it's difficult to accept that. Another, thing that I learned was it's not all about being better than most but enjoying what you are doing.…

Exposure to most of the traumatic life experiences that have whittled away at some of my peers has, thankfully, evaded me; however, even subtle experiences can revolutionize a previously held belief. I have learned to not ever take an experience for granted and learn from each of my mistakes. Each and every person only has one life to live on earth; why waste something so precious by making the same mistakes? As a child I was forced to grow up rapidly. Responsibility, maturity, discipline, and tenacity came quicker to me than the majority of my peers.…

Pitching is my dream; pain is my problem. For the past four seasons I have been unable to complete a full season without pain or injury. This began in the spring of my eighth grade year when I was informed that I had a stress fracture in my elbow caused by a result of pitching. This devastated me as I knew I would miss most of my season after working all offseason to get ready for the season. Luckily, I was able to come back with approximately a month to go in the season, however my velocity was down and it still hurt to throw.…
