It would be an honor to intern for the CIEE alumni program in 2016. I received information about your program from CIEE alumni informing me of the great opportunity of interning at Portland Maine. I believe this opportunity would provide me with experiences in constructing my senior thesis project, challenging strategic projects, and improving my leadership skills.

I am a junior at Wesleyan College with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy and minor in Communication. My education at Wesleyan College has helped me develop a strong knowledge of independent research conducted with the assistance of my professor on “Distractibility of Sensitive Individuals when under Observation.” I was able to compile research and analyze data for statistical

Also, I volunteered at the Crisis Line and Safe House, which provide awareness to the issues of sexual violence and domestic violence and supported the victims. Correspondingly, I coordinated and facilitated in community service initiatives and worked in partnership to serve children and youth, senior citizens, those with developmental disabilities, health issues, individuals and families in need of home repairs and renovations. Moreover, I am currently an Academic Center Philosophy Tutor at Wesleyan College. As a tutor, I was able to develop and present materials and information to students in a manner that allows for full understanding of the intended audience by explaining complex concepts using easy-to-understand terms. Additionally, I worked effectively with students with diverse learning needs and cultural backgrounds. Likewise, I participated in the creative arts ministry, which deals with organized, planned, and implement ideas for campus ministry events. Being active on campus while maintaining an overall average of 3.39 and current fall semester GPA of 3.81 has enabled me to develop abilities in: problem-solving skills, willingness to work in a team setting, applying empathy, organizational skills and confidentiality among the clients. During the weekends, I traveled to different cities within the Czech Republic and Poland. Furthermore, the expertise and skills acquired in a month provided the ability to build relationships with individuals from a wide variety of cultures, independence, learning through listening and observing, self-confidence, problem solving, open-minded, adaptable and flexible in new situations.
