The score was tied, and the Cavaliers could feel the nerves and anxiety of the players, fans and coaches. When the second half started, Anthony Gill scored four points, but his buckets were over-shadowed by a Carolina turnover. This was the fifth turnover of the night for Carolina. The spotlight was turned back to the Cavaliers when Isaiah Wilkins did a slam dunk and gave Virginia a four point lead. Carolina had scored two more to bring there lead up 6 points. Virginia’s player Brogdon played eight minutes without a shot from the field, which made the Cavaliers behind the Tarheels. Brogdon decided to push for a shot and it fell, and Virginia called a timeout; the final timeout of the game. Virginia needed to decide a plan to try to come back from this loss that was about to happen.
It was getting down end of the game and soon a champion was going to be crowned. After the timeout, Carolina scored a three pointer and the Cavaliers player Isaiah Hicks scored on the other end with a three pointer. This made the score 57 Tarheels and 52 Cavs with 20 seconds to play. The seconds were getting shorter, and Virginia scored a three pointer and a regular shot but it was nothing compared to a one point shot, a three point shot that made it secure that the Tarheels would win the Championship. The lead that the Tarheels had couldn’t be fixed. The buzzer went off and the new champions were crowned.
