The Making of Disney

Disney is an internationally renowned company known for its creativity and amazing storytelling. Disney movies always manage to keep you on the edge of your seat. Disney’s many innovations help make people's lives thrilling and exciting. Today Disney is one of the best known companies in the world. The company wouldn't exist if it hadn’t been for Walt Disney, the founder of the Walt Disney Company, and Walt Disney Studios. Disney may appear to be a household company, but it is only because of how hard Walt Disney worked, and all the innovations the Walt Disney Company has made in the past, to make Disney the great company it is today.
Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Chicago. As a young boy at the age of four, his family moved to a farm in Ellis, Kansas. Walt attended high school at McKinley High School in Chicago. Later, in 1918, Walt joined the Red Cross Ambulance Corps. in France after the Armistice.(Enciclopedia.com) One year after being in the Red Cross in France, he returned to Kansas and became a commercial art studio apprentice. The Disney Company launched its first short. In 1934, Disney Studio expanded its staff to 200 employees, and Donald Duck makes his first appearance. In 1939 The Walt Disney Company built a 3-Million dollar headquarters in Burbank, California. (Walt Disney Company) One year after the new headquarters was built Disney workers went on strike, in the same year Elias Disney died. In 1955 Disneyland opens in Anaheim, California. It was the first Disney park or resort to ever open. This was a major milestone for Disney and his associates. Then in 1971, The Walt Disney Company opened the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Another Resort opens twelve years later. This resort was called Tokyo Disneyland.
