1889; that’s when Columbia City High School started its historic adventure. Columbia City High School is a very old school with very rich history, but it 's time to turn over a new stone. Since this dilapidated school has reached a point when it 's become of ill repair and there’s nothing more to do. These numerous problems that plague CCHS are constant. The final straw was pulled; with the city deciding to build a new high school within the next three years. This is a massive project, however, students now won’t be able to attend the new high school but it is encouraged that they help out with ideas and plans in order to construct a workable and efficient environment for the future students.
The CCHS organization is quite phenomenal, that is one thing that can’t be said about every school. That’s the normal hope when it rains a fair amount. Students will hope and pray that the school floods because it’s widely known that the school is prone to flooding. Flooding was not thought of when CCHS was built, but the location was. CCHS has a significant location, it was chosen to be in the center of town, making transportation to the school a lot easier. For being an older school that wasn’t planned very well, the building is located in the bottom of a bowl-shaped indent in the ground. This indent happens to collect water when it becomes too saturated causing water to puddle up and collect on the floor of the school. There have been ideas for solutions such as sandbags, but that will only work for a short time. The sandbags are temporary, they eventually fail and cause water to gush through the halls.
