Anne Frank’s diary holds a lot of value, for both it’s storytelling and how it allows the reader to look back at the Holocaust through the eyes of a Jew. Despite this, Anne’s revered diary does not belong in a History class, it belongs in an English one. Anne’s diary does show us what life in hiding was like, but it should not be read for its historical value. Only 15% of the diary entries mention WWII and those that do cushion the blow that the horror of the Holocaust should strike in those learning about it. The Holocaust deserves to be remembered for what it was, which was a horrible murder of millions of innocent people. It should make the learners horrified.
