Leveraging web-based tools, online education, and learning management systems (e.g. BlackBoard) helps students learn valuable skills (such as online research) in an asynchronous, online environment which is an excellent modality for individuals who want the convenience and flexibility of earning a nursing degree without sacrificing other obligations and/or responsibilities. Online courses provide the same level of academic integrity, relevancy and excellence as traditional courses. I encourage online coursework for its many benefits and the ability to draw students for across the country and the world, which broadens the learning experience for all students. I believe in the importance of program accreditation in ensuring excellence in education and transferability of courses. I have found many benefits related to online education

These past few years, I have further refined my critical thinking skills when approaching nursing education and its processes while addressing the most critical issues, and increasing the number of students enrolled in a program. To bring this about, I had to prove myself, not only in my clinical acumen, but also in my verbal and written skills, team building ability and willingness to be an advocate for all students, prospective and current, as well as identifying and recruiting for nursing programs. What is more, these skills have increased my quantitative and statistical ability, skills that will prove invaluable in my doctoral research, not to mention the responsibility of educating nursing students. The students that will go forth and provide optimal care to the nation’s…

I believe in caring. Caring for the students as a unique individual is the basis for the quality and richness that I bring to nursing education. Optimal learning takes place in a caring, safe, and non-threatening setting. The “Seven Principles of Good Practice in Undergraduate Education”, as defined by Chickering and Gamson (1987), is my practice guideline of being a nurse educator and is evident throughout my educational practices. The history of nursing has impacted my individual practice through many different ways. When I look at nursing as individual based, I have and am learning and gaining knowledge from ever nurse that I interact with. I have been able to learn new skills, techniques and pick up on small patient cues that other nurses have learned through their personal experience. This has changed the way that I care for my patients, by allowing me to provide, recognize and treat them with better care. When I look at nursing and the reasons why nurses do what they do, I feel that the goal has remained the same, which is caring for those in need of help (Blais, 2016).…
