Perhaps, I am strongly aware that learning about the historical Jesus makes a difference of my own faith and of my ministry. I must have the knowledge of knowing both the “Jesus of faith” and the “Jesus of history” and accept Jesus’ humanity as a Jewish and also His divinity as a Son of God. This will deepen my knowledge on reading and reflecting the scriptures. In the videos and chapter 3 of encountering Jesus in the scripture, I learned that Jesus’ mission was to proclaim that the kingdom of God is at hand and to summon people to reform their lives. Also, he proclaims that the kingdom of God is “among you, not “within you” (Harrington and Matthews 21). He was bringing the kingdom of God to existence on earth through His preaching and actions.
