● Historical contexts (time periods) including a description of how the time periods were presented in the book (clothing, use of language, mannerisms, etc.)- The time period in the book was not portrayed as ancient, as there were cars and lights. It shows the way that they put them down and decided to ignore their needs just because they are perceived as less than

To begin with, the first sighting of the lack of education the animals posses is when Napoleon starts to control them. The animals were so absent minded to realize that Napoleon was building a pyramid, and placing everyone below him. For example, in the novel, it states “Napoleon denounced such ideas as contrary to the spirit of Animalism. The true happiness he said , lay in hard work and living frugally,” (Chapter 10, Pg 107). With this action taking place, it shows that Napoleon took advantage of the dictatorship and used it to his own well being instead of properly leading them.…

Not only did it provide insightful and witty commentary on a topic that fascinates me, but it succeeded in doing so without the baggage of endlessly dense and monotonous prose. I especially liked how Animal Farm presented itself as a “fairy story”, and how it used this innocent appearance to capture readers’ attentions and keep them hooked as it strayed farther and farther from the initially perfect picture of an equal society. I think that many can relate to this because youth, such as myself, often have a “fairy story” perspective on the world. Over time, this perspective is gradually tarnished by experience, and often results in a somewhat bitter and cynical outlook on the world. Overall, this book is easily recommendable to anyone with a few hours of spare time on their hands and an interest in…

This may at first paint a picture of Napoleon as a cruel and heartless pig, but he is much more. He is cunning and incredibly good at gaining the support by abusing their ignorance. In fact, they convinced the animals so much that one horse named Boxer adopted the motto, “Napoleon is always right”(126). George Orwell utilized animals as his form of people in the book Animal Farm. There were horses, dogs, birds, chickens, and pigs. The one horse I really remember from the book was Boxer who was extremely hard working, pretty easy to manipulate and overall a lovable character. Then there are the dogs which at first were innocent puppies but were later turned to heel biting dogs. The main bird in this story is Moses and all he did was talk about sugar mountain which is a place above the clouds.…
