The Americans quickly discovered that this style of warfare was ridiculous and instead decided that quick hit-and-run attacks were more effective in taking down sections of the British army. These attacks were orchestrated by men who knew the land being fought on like the back of their hand and Martin was one of them. He led his militia through the swamps and forests of South Carolina and Georgia, sending the British forces on outlandish and tiring wild goose chases and stealing supplies to use for their own troops. The historical accuracy for this film is debatable, but Professor Mark Glancy of the University of London said "It 's horrendously inaccurate and attributes crimes committed by the Nazis in the 1940s to the British in the 1770s.”. The British were, in fact, under orders by Lord Cornwallis to give aid to the injured. In Biographical Sketches of the Eminent American Patriots (2010, Sept, 30), it states “Lord Cornwallis requested the privilege of sending supplies to the prisoners as well as medical aid for the wounded.” (p. 187, para. 1). The film showed the war ending with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783, which stated that “His Brittanic Majesty acknowledges the said United States,…,to be free sovereign and Independent States” and that they will be treated as such (Article 1).
