Mandela is the man who this film is about. Throughout this paper I will discuss the fact that the film, Invictus, was historically accurate by discussing the true historical people and events, summarizing the movie, and comparing and contrasting how the movie portrayed the true people and events. Through this paper you will see the evidence provided is very accurate and will give you a good understanding of the movie itself. This will be proved that the movie, Invictus, is factual.

This is proven throughout the movie of invictus directed by Clint Eastwood in 2009, starring Matt Damon, and Morgan Freeman(Invictus). This film starts out as Mandela becoming president, people not believing in him, and even himself doubting his abilities as president. But right from the start of the film he wants people to work together and be united. Though this may not come yet he still makes an effort that proves useful. Mandela sees the Springboks, the South African rugby team, as a powerful tool to fight against oppression. When people start trying to get rid of the team Mandela steps in against this and was able to change the vote to be in favor of keeping the team. After his success he invites the captain of the Springboks, Francois Pienaar, to have tea with him. Francois gladly accepts and does so. Throughout this meeting you can see Mandela trying to get Francois to motivate him and his team into winning their games. This does work and after this Mandela asks the team to go to small villages and work with younger children to teach them rugby. The team doesn’t want to do this due to having jobs and a life outside of rugby. But, they do accept to do this. Eventually the team manages to win all their games and advance to the world cup. By this point people of all races have came together for this game. The team was able to win the world cup and became national champions. People of every color were hugging and happy. This was what mandela really did want and had worked for since the
